[this one goes out to my best bro stephen garrison and his lovely wife emma]...so...ive been a little busy and i havent posted in a while...sorry...i place my GOD, my wife, my students, and sleep above writing posts at this point in my life...however, it doesnt totally excuse me not writing a little bit each week...this is not a new years resolution or anything, its just an i will try harder statement...i am sitting in leesburg, virginia right now after being in greenville, south carolina for a very short trip...ive been back in america from south korea since 19 dec 2009 for Christmas break and was planning on staying in greenville from sunday evening until thursdaymornign...however, my wifes grandpa "pawpaw" passed away monday morning...we rented a car drove from there to here for a service tomorrow before we fly out on friday morning...its a little crazy, but what would life be without craziness...(i dont want to know, actually)...pawpaw was probably one of the Godliest men i have ever met...he preached a sermon at the church he pastored for and "retired" from the ministry from on prayer and importance of it to life and ministry...his text was Ephesians 3:13-21 and every other statement in the message was a passage from the Word of GOD; the HOLY SPIRIT worked through this in my life to prepare me for my new life as a husband starting a new job as a teacher in the new (to me at least) country of sourth korea...as i strive to be more like CHRIST, i praise GOD for faithful men who are and now have run before me...the light of their faith burning with the fire of their devotion are lining the path of the straight and narrow that seems ever so lonely sometimes...pawpaw said as i already know that prayer is hard work; so let us pray for strength to pray as it shows our dependence on GOD as His humble servants...1 Thessalonians 5:17...James 5:16...

monday morning's jog

so i get up this morning to jog a bit at 6:30--not a good idea if you havent been joggin in a while--but anyway...i went jogging in the the direction of--well i just went jogging because im still not too sure which direction is which right now...i made it all the way to lotte--korea's version macy's...there is a adam, eve, cain, and able statue thing that i ran to and turned around to run back...on my way back a korean man stopped me--as if he knew me...he said "you so strong" and i said "no, im weak and tired"...he said "how big are your arms?"; me, "im not sure; how big are yours?"..."mine are 37 cm; ha, ha"...i tried to start jogging again but my new friend said, "arnold schwartzeneggar is the governor of califonia"; "yes, thats right"..."arnold schwartzeneggar is the strongest man in the world"; "oh, ok, im not too sure about that"..."arnold schwartzeneggar is the terminator"; "yes, yes he is--i have to run now bye"..."arnold..."; me, "com som ee da (thank you in korean)"...many korean people love to stop americans on the sidewalk to practice their english with you

after this i had breakfast and went to school with my wife for our first day of in-service. they must have been mistaken because it was really like move a billion books and sweat off thirty pounds in a tall hot building. it wasnt too bad, but it was hot. we got a lot done. my wife is teaching 3rd grade on the 2nd floor and i am teaching biology, earth science, physical science, and pre-calculus on the 4th floor...we left at 6:00 pm...it was raining big drops...i was able to help a little old korean lady lift a garage door thing on the way home (check off the good deed for the day)...chop-chay pot stickers, sticky rice, and sweet carrots for dinner and now im ready to sleep for hours...ill jog tomorrow morning and i might get stopped...well see...until then

donkas and some sort of sweet and sour pork...these are the leftovers in the refrigerator of a south korean couple...hi, my name is robbie may and my wife's name is robyn...we are teachers (high school science and 3rd grade respectively) at seoul Christian school in downtown seoul, south korea...we live in a quaint apartment not too far from our school and are still settling in after our 14.5 hour flight from altanta, georgia, usa last tuesday...as i author different posts you can easily recognize it by the lack of capital letters and the gross spelling errors (i cant spell to save my life)...back to my leftovers, donkas is a slice of pork and its breaded in panko bread crumbs and the sweet and sour pork is what it is...the food is good; spicy, but good (i.e. "kim-chee")...within our first few days of being here i have already started to pick up on key phrases like hello, thank you, milk, not in existence, ..., and i think thats about it...i love it because everyone bows--its like being in one of those sweet asian films with subtitles that are barely understandable even though they are english words...we are teaching along side some great fellow teachers; most of which are from usa and a few from canada and south korea (go figure)...eating out and shopping is what weve been doing and tomorrow (24 august 2009) is in-service; so, hi-ho, hi-ho it off to work we go--insert whistling short guys--which is ironic because my towering height of 5'9" is tall here in...i must go and help the most beautiful woman in the world--my wife robyn...she is bleaching the bathroom and im sure that there are some things that i can be taking care of...maybe i should start whistling now...rbmay
